Places to Stay:
Okay I will admit, this is the shortest list I got. I'm not one for BnB's, and if I am travelling, I like my creature comforts.
Hawthorne Hotel- Absolutely iconic. Historic, great parking, centrally located downtown, rumored to be haunted, but can be as expensive as a Disney vacation during the tourism season. Both the breakfast and lunch/dinner restaurants are amazing, and the room service is top notch. Always plan ahead and book early!
Salem Waterfront Hotel- Modern, near the wharf so not as centrally located but still 5 minute walk from downtown, but decently priced and clean. Great parking too.
Hotel Salem- Right on Essex Street, modern, great rooftop bar and restaurant, decently priced, parking is terrible during October. They have no parking of their own, so you have to park in the expensive garage close-by through the mall, or if you get there early enough get in the Church Street Lot by Die With Your Boots On. Way better rates.
